When our youngest citizens thrive, our entire community prospers. This year\u2019s theme, <strong>\u201cTogether We Shine,\u201d<\/strong> highlights the collective impact of educators, families, and community leaders in early childhood development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Penny Mansell, Director of the Center for Education Support at Mississippi University for Women, emphasized that early childhood educators are doing far more than most realize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s more than daycare. It\u2019s more than babysitting,\u201d said Mansell. \u201cThese educators are world changers. Because of their work, parents can go to work, children\u2019s brains can grow, and local economies can prosper. They are building the foundation not just for kindergarten readiness \u2014 but for lifelong success.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Governor Tate Reeves also recognized the Week of the Young Child with a <strong>statewide proclamation<\/strong>, reinforcing that early childhood matters across every corner of the state. No matter your priorities \u2014 education, workforce, health, or community development \u2014 we can all agree that when we take care of our youngest children, Mississippi grows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Week of the Young Child, led nationally by the <strong>National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)<\/strong>, recognizes that early childhood education is not only an investment in our children \u2014 it\u2019s a cornerstone of thriving communities.
