COLUMBUS, Miss.\u2014<\/strong> Mississippi University for Women proudly announces the first recipients of the Bob Fuller W Difference Award, a new annual honor created to recognize faculty and staff who go above and beyond in service to students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Named in honor of Dr. Bob Fuller, department chair and beloved educational leader, the award reflects what he has long called The W Difference<\/em> \u2014 the unique spirit of care, connection, and community that sets The W apart from big-box institutions. Dr. Fuller, who will retire at the end of this semester, is widely regarded as the embodiment of that difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe W Difference is the time, dedication, and support we provide to our students,\u201d said Dr. Bob Fuller. \u201cThese two faculty members are doers \u2014 they constantly go beyond what\u2019s expected to ensure our graduates are among the best in the field. Our people are what make the difference. It\u2019s an honor to have this award named after me, but I am most proud of our people. They make the W Difference happen every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s honorees, Dr. Alison Buehler and Mrs. Rose Goodin Ford, were selected after receiving an equal number of student nominations, each highlighting their passion, support, and impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student praise for Dr. Buehler included:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe truly listens, encourages us, and supports us \u2014 even with things that aren\u2019t for her class.\u201d
\u201cI\u2019d recommend the education department simply because of her.\u201d
\u201cShe creates a welcoming classroom where every voice matters.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Student praise for Mrs. Ford included:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShe\u2019s passionate, encouraging, and brings out the best in her students \u2014 even when they don\u2019t see it in themselves.\u201d
\u201cHer hands-on lessons helped me gain confidence in early literacy and how to teach it.\u201d
\u201cShe pushed me to keep going when I was struggling \u2014 and I\u2019m so grateful for that support.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDr. Buehler and Mrs. Ford are outstanding in their craft and their profession,\u201d said Dr. Marty Hatton, Dean of the School of Education. \u201cThey are true teachers \u2014 deeply committed to their students, passionate about their subject matter, and driven by the belief that great teaching transforms lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Bob Fuller W Difference Award will continue as an annual celebration of the people who make The W School of Education such a special place to learn, teach, and grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
