Join MGS June 6-19, 2027<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Mississippi Governor’s School (MGS) is a tuition-free residential honors program sponsored by the State of Mississippi for gifted rising high school juniors and seniors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For two weeks each summer, scholars from across the state live and learn together through challenging courses, leadership experiences, service projects, team-building activities, and a vibrant residential community. Participants earn three hours of honors college credit while building friendships, exploring new ideas, and developing the skills needed to lead, serve, and make a difference in Mississippi and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Applications Open:<\/strong> August 15, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application Final Deadline:<\/strong> November 1, 2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cohort Notification:<\/strong> First round selected scholars will be notified prior to the Christmas holiday break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eligibility:<\/strong> Mississippi residents currently completing 10th or 11th grade (at the time of application submission) who have not previously attended the Mississippi Governor’s School. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must meet two requirements: 1) Academic Qualification and 2) Demonstrated Advance Ability. Applicants must submit a completed online application that includes resume, prompt response, and two recommendation letters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cost:<\/strong> Tuition, room, meals, and activities are covered for scholars. Three hours of honors college credit are provided through Mississippi University for Women. Transportation to and from MGS and personal dorm supplies are each scholar’s responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residential Commitment:<\/strong> MGS is a fully residential, closed-campus program. Scholars are expected to participate in all scheduled courses, activities, and events throughout the two-week experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One day you might be exploring forensic science, building a boat, debating public policy, or learning a new skill during Options Night. At MGS, adventure begins with curiosity and leads to discoveries that can shape your future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an extremely competitive process. Our team grades all applications using a rubric and a multi-grader approach. Please be patient while waiting for the results. We typically accept around 1\/3 of applications to join the cohort. Questions are encouraged (mgs@muw.edu) before submission. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
