There is something happening in teacher education at The W that you will not find anywhere else in Mississippi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are building stronger connections between our students and the schools they hope to serve\u2014and creating an opportunity for future teachers to begin becoming paid professionals before they graduate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our new Assistant Teacher Apprenticeship Program<\/strong> is at the heart of that effort. Through our \u201cearn while you learn\u201d program, qualified students can become full-time paid Assistant Teachers during their senior year while completing their teacher education degrees\u2014earning a salary and benefits while gaining the experience, confidence, and professional connections that come from being part of a school community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you are already working as an Assistant Teacher or paraprofessional, we want to help you take the next step. If you are a community college student already working as an Assistant Teacher, your experience and your goals have a place here. And if you are a high school or transfer student who has never worked in a school, we can help you find your way into the classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is more than preparing to become a teacher. It is beginning your career while you prepare for it.<\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For our school partners, this creates something equally valuable: an opportunity to grow your own teachers<\/strong>. You can get to know future educators, support their development, and potentially have a talented new teacher ready to join your faculty after graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
