School of Education COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Information

COLUMBUS, Miss.-- Mississippi Governor’s School (MGS) is now accepting applications for the 2021 session June 6-19, 2021.

Mississippi Governor’s School (MGS) is a tuition-free residential honors program that offers unique creative and academic experiences to students with exceptional abilities and achievements.

“Students who attend MGS will meet gifted students from across the state, many of whom they may never have met otherwise. The bonds they create, the experiences they share, are the things that make MGS special,” said Ashley Hammack, MGS program manager.

The first week of the program (June 6 – 12) will be on the campus of Mississippi University for Women. The second week (June 14-19) will be completely virtual.

For the on-campus portion of the program, MGS will be adhering to campus and community guidelines regarding COVID-19.

“For the virtual week, students will be meeting during their academic and special interest course times to complete a special project. There will also be several virtual activities planned throughout the week,” explained Hammack.

For two weeks each June, MGS invites rising high school juniors and seniors from all over the state to participate in this prestigious program. During their time in the program, MGS scholars take rigorous interdisciplinary courses, engage in team building exercises, and create lifelong friendships and memories.

Student applications are open from Oct. 1 – Dec. 18, 2020. Full application instructions and more information about the program can be found at
