Your advisor will discuss the required courses and a degree plan for your individual needs. Advisors are here to help you obtain your teaching goals, so please feel comfortable to contact them with any questions or concerns about your program. During registration time, you will meet with your advisor to determine which courses are available for you to take in the coming semester. If you are transferring into The W from another college, you may have already completed most of your core classes. It is recommended that you complete the General Education Requirements before you begin your major classes. The Mississippi Department of Education states that a student must have passing Praxis Core scores or a composite score of 21 or higher on the ACT or earned GPA 3.0 or higher for a student to obtain the Student Teaching 101 License. This requirement must be met prior to admittance into the Teacher Education Program and enrollment in Methods courses, which are generally taken in the first semester of your senior year.

Once you meet the requirements, contact your advisor to obtain the instructions for completing the application to the Teacher Education Program.
During your Methods courses, you will apply for your internship semester. The application will be completed on Watermark and will give you the opportunity to select three preferred school locations for your internship semester.
