Governor Tate Reeves has signed Executive Order 1466 which orders all Mississippians to Shelter in Place for two weeks.

The executive order goes into effect on Friday April 3, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. and will remain in effect until Monday April 20, 2020, unless further extended.

EO 1466 requires everyone living in Mississippi to remain in their homes when possible. Anyone outside must maintain 6 feet from other people and are prohibited from gathering in groups of 10.

The order will allow people to go to the grocery store, get take away food from restaurants, pharmacy, work, engage in “individual outdoor activity or recreation,” or the to see a healthcare provider.

The order will permit “Travel to or from educational institutions including… colleges and universities… for the purposes of receiving materials for distance learning, for receiving meals, and other educational related purposes.”

Non-essential business and recreation facilities—including parks, movie theaters, bowling alleys, and social clubs (but not walking trails)—are being ordered to suspend operations.
