To exercise caution, well-being and the prevention of the potential spreading of the Coronavirus, Mississippi University for Women will extend Spring Break through Sunday, March 22. Beginning Monday, March 23 and until further notice, all classes will be taught via other alternative instructional methods. The W will continue to remain open March 16-22 for faculty and staff.

To practice social distancing, all university-sponsored events and gatherings are suspended until further notice. The W is suspending all university sponsored or related non-essential travel (domestic and international) at this time.  If a faculty or staff member believes there is a compelling reason for travel, they should consult with their supervising cabinet member to request an exception.

Students are encouraged to remain at home and participate in their classes remotely. Students enrolled in professional and graduate programs will be notified of any exceptions to meet clinical and other requirements.

Residence halls will continue to be open for students who need to remain on campus. All residential students will need to fill out an Intent Form. Please refer to communications from Housing and Residence Life concerning checkout procedures and related information.

All card access to the residence halls will be deactivated Monday, March 23. If students require access into residence halls after Monday, March 23, contact Housing & Residence Life at (662) 329-7127 between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

The W continues to closely monitor information regarding Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The situation remains fluid and the university will continue to provide students, faculty and staff with the most comprehensive information available. At this time, The W has not been notified of any member of the campus community with coronavirus.

University administration and campus personnel continue to have regular meetings and are diligently making preparations in the event the virus spreads closer to campus. Continuity plans are in place to address situations that may arise. Campus updates will be provided as needed.

In the event a case is confirmed near campus, The W will take the necessary precautions to protect our students, faculty, staff and the campus community.
