These one-credit courses are open to any student registered at The W.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Required Courses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CA 200 &#8211; Introduction to Culinary Arts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 300 &#8211; Food Preparation I (with laboratory)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 301 &#8211; Food Preparation II (with laboratory)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pick 2 or 3 additional courses (CA 300 or higher OR FN 225) to equal a minimum of 18 hours.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Topics Courses for the Non-Major:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list w-flow\">\n<li>CA 101 &#8211; Culinary Basics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 102 &#8211; Bread Baking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 103 &#8211; Pastries and Desserts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 104 &#8211; Meats and Fish<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 105 &#8211; Cold Foods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 106 &#8211; Soups, Stocks, Sauces and Gravies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 107 &#8211; Regional Cuisines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 108 &#8211; Nutrition\/Healthy Foods<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 109 &#8211; Vegetables<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 110 &#8211; Potatoes, Grains and Pasta<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 111 &#8211; The Basics of Menus and Recipes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 112 &#8211; The Basics of Entertaining<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 115 &#8211; Wine Appreciation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 125 &#8211; ServSafe\u00ae<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CA 199 &#8211; Selected Topics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Total: 18 Semester Hours<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The purpose of the topics courses is to provide a high quality instructional program for undergraduates who are not culinary majors.
