When students use Respondus LockDown Browser they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications. When an assessment is started, students are locked into it until they submit it for grading. We highly recommend that you offer students a practice or low-stakes quiz to familiarize themselves with using LockDown Browser before requiring it for any important exams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. &nbsp;Provide Student&#8217;s Installion Link for LockDown Browser<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Provide your students the<a href=\"https:\/\/download.respondus.com\/lockdown\/download.php?id=641414516\"> installation link<\/a> for LockDown Browser<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. &nbsp;Provide Student&#8217;s System Requirements for using Lockdown Browser<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students can check that their computer meets the minimum <a href=\"https:\/\/www.respondus.com\/products\/lockdown-browser\/requirements.shtml\">system requirements<\/a> before using Respondus LockDown Browser.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.respondus.com\/products\/monitor\/requirements.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. &nbsp;Turn on the LockDown Browser setting for your chosen exam(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.respondus.com\/downloads\/RLDB-QuickStartGuide-Instructor-Instructure.pdf\">guide<\/a>&nbsp;to enable LockDown Browser only.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>4. &nbsp;Provide An Overview for LockDown Browser for Your Students&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Introduction to Respondus LockDown Browser for Students\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XuX8WoeAycs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For further student resources, direct students to this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.respondus.com\/downloads\/RLDB-QuickStartGuide-Instructure-Student.pdf\">Quick Start pdf<\/a>&nbsp;or the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.muw.edu\/online\/respondus\">Online Learning page<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>Suggested Syllabus Language<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you will be requiring the use of LockDown Browser for one or more exams in your course, you may want to include an explanation of how the system works in your syllabus or online course orientation materials. Here is some sample language that you can use and\/or modify.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Using LockDown Browser for Online Exams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This course requires the use of LockDown Browser for online exams. Watch this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.respondus.com\/products\/lockdown-browser\/student-movie.shtml\">short video<\/a>&nbsp;to get a basic understanding of LockDown Browser (we will not be using the optional webcam feature).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then <a href=\"https:\/\/download.respondus.com\/lockdown\/download.php?id=641414516\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">download and install LockDown Browser<\/a>. Please note that LockDown Browser is already installed in all campus computer labs and ready for your use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To take an online test, start LockDown Browser and navigate to the exam. (You won&#8217;t be able to access the exam with a standard web browser.) For additional details on using LockDown Browser, review this&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.respondus.com\/products\/lockdown-browser\/guides.shtml#student\">Student Quick Start Guide (PDF)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, when taking an online exam, follow these guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Select a location where you won&#8217;t be interrupted<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Before starting the test, know how much time is available for it, and that you&#8217;ve allotted sufficient time to complete it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn off all mobile devices, phones, etc. and don&#8217;t have them within reach<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear your area of all external materials \u2014 books, papers, other computers, or devices<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remain at your desk or workstation for the duration of the test<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LockDown Browser will prevent you from accessing other websites or applications; you will be unable to exit the test until all questions are completed and submitted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Respondus LockDown Browser\u00ae is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within Canvas.
