August Orientation will consist of both Freshmen and Transfers combined. Orientation is a program that will assist both Freshman and Transfer students to have a smooth transition as they start their new journey here at The W. Orientation will give students the opportunity to learn more about the University, services offered to students, and academic programs, along with enrolling in classes for the upcoming fall semester. During Orientation you will get to meet and get to know your upcoming classmates and engage with currently enrolled W students. You will also get the opportunity to connect with members of the University's faculty and staff. Orientation does not stop at just students. We also have a parent/ family orientation experience that accompanies most of the Student's Orientation sessions. We develop programming for parent and family members that are specific to their needs.
We look forward to seeing you at Orientation! Welcome to The W family!!

“The South is a strange place, one that can't be fit inside a movie, a place that dares you to simplify it, like a prime number, like a Bible story, like my father.” - Harrison Scott Key, The World’s Largest Man
The Office of the Provost and the Student Success Center are excited to bring Harrison Scott Key, the author of the 2018 MUW Common Read, The World’s Largest Man, to the Mississippi University for Women’s campus during BLUES Week. Dr. Key is an award-winning author, playwright and occasional stand-up comedian. He will be speaking in Kossen Auditorium (Poindexter Hall) on Sunday, August 19th at 6:00 and will be available to meet with students afterwards. Copies of The World’s Largest Man will be available for purchase in the Parkinson Hall lobby.
