SUMMARY:SM-100 Seminar: How Do I Study the Brain? Let Me Count the Ways: Cognitive Neuroscience and Related Fields
DESCRIPTION:Come listen to Dr. Ethan Flurry for the second SM-100 seminar of the semester this Wednesday\, September 10th at 12 noon Parkinson Hall Room 117. \nDr. Ethan Flurry is an assistant professor in the MUW Psychology & Family Sciences department\, where he teaches courses aimed at exploring the brain and the mind\, such as Physiological Psychology\, Sensation and Perception\, and Applied Cognitive Aging. Dr. Flurry earned his Ph.D. in Applied Cognitive Science at Mississippi State where his research focused on aging and memory. He also worked as a graduate assistant on an NSF grant at MSU using fMRI brain imaging techniques to look for neural correlates of cognitive processes\, and as research coordinator on an NIH grant at Georgia Tech aimed at improving older adults’ memory in everyday situations. His research lab opened last semester in the EDHS building at MUW and is currently called the Brain Café Lab due to an ongoing study involving free snacks\, tea\, and coffee. His lab is always looking for participants to be involved in ongoing research projects on cognitive processes such as attention\, multi-tasking\, and memory\, and will have more information about how to get involved in this presentation.
