SUMMARY:AI-Boosted Molecular Discovery: From CO2 Capture to Drug Design\, and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:Come listen to Dr. Konstantinos D. Vogiatzis who is our speaker for the SM-100 seminar this Wednesday\, March 4th at 12 noon. \nKonstantinos “Kostas” Vogiatzis completed his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Athens\, Greece (2006)\, followed by MSc in Applied Molecular Spectroscopy from the University of Crete\, Greece (2008). He received his Ph.D. from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology\, Germany (2012)\, where he worked on the development of new quantum chemical methods. After an eight-month post-doctoral appointment at the Institute of Nanotechnology at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology\, he moved in 2014 at the University of Minnesota\, where he worked on quantum chemistry\, computational catalysis\, high-throughput virtual screening\, and high-performance computing. In 2016\, Dr. Kostas Vogiatzis joined the University of Tennessee\, Knoxville\, where currently he is serving as the Associate Professor of theoretical and computational chemistry. Recipient of the many awards\, Dr. Vogiatzis is currently developing new computational methods based on quantum chemistry and artificial intelligence for the theoretical examination of reactivity\, catalysis\, drug design\, and separation processes.
