COLUMBUS, Miss.— Dr. Scott Tollison, dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies at Mississippi University for Women, was recently named to the Mississippi Business Journal’s Top 50 under 40.

"I was honored to have been selected and privileged to work with some truly exceptional individuals. Their enthusiasm and persistence have not only provided a number of opportunities for students across the state and region, but they have also made our work a lot of fun along the way," said Tollison.

As dean of the College of Business and Professional Studies at The W, Tollison has worked with members of the college faculty to launch a new online masters of business administration and an undergraduate program in health care management, entered eight partnerships with community colleges and enhanced pathways for community college transfer students to pursue bachelor's degrees through online delivery and the acceptance of up to 43 hours of technical coursework.

Tollison currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Columbus Arts Council and the Board of Advisors with the West Point / Clay County Growth Alliance. In addition, he is an Honorary Commander of the 14th Medical Support Squadron at Columbus Air Force Base and a member of the Columbus Exchange Club.

Tollison holds three degrees from Mississippi State University: bachelor's and master's degrees in information systems and a doctorate in instructional systems and workforce development. Prior to joining The W's faculty, he was a faculty member in computer networking technology at East Mississippi Community College.

The Top 50 Under 40 program seeks to identify and recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to Mississippi’s overall economic progress, often working at their own local levels.

Since its inception in 1993, the Top 50 Under 40 program has honored hundreds of Mississippi business leaders who are playing active day-to-day roles in moving the state’s economy well into the 21st century.
