Little was known about this collection until recently when Dr. Brittany Sheldon, an art historian specializing in African art, was able to identify the ethnic group for each mask. She posits that the masks are quality copies of original masks used in ceremonies and are examples of the African tourist economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>October 12 &#8211; December 12, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mississippi University for Women Galleries, located on the first floor of Summer Hall, are open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. \u2013 5 p.m., following the university calendar.
