ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES HANDBOOK

ADMINISTRATOR: SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR PLANNING AND INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

The Special Assistant to the President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness reports directly to the President and is responsible for the overall design, development and communication of the planning, evaluation and institutional effectiveness activities.

Responsibilities:

w Develop a process for implementation, assessment and review of the strategic planning process.

w Monitor the internal and external environment and identify opportunities to fulfill the University strategic planning process.

w Convey priorities for planning activities across all units and functions.

w Ensure the quality of all assessment and reporting materials.

w Encourage the use of assessment and evaluation in all academic and non-academic endeavors by utilizing various campus groups.

w Support faculty and staff involvement in planning and assessment.

w Communicate trends and needs for improvement to the President’s Cabinet.

w Serve as a strategic liaison for key organizational initiatives between all academic divisions and non-academic departments.

w Monitor system planning activities.

w Serve as support to or actively participate on the University Planning and Institutional Effectiveness (PIE) Council as directed or appointed by the President.

w Monitor and keep the University community apprised of all Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) policies, procedures and guidelines.

w Serve on the President’s Cabinet.

wPerform other duties as assigned by the President.

ADMINISTRATOR: DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH

The Director of Institutional Research reports to the Special Assistant to the President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness and is responsible for the University’s institutional research activities.

Responsibilities:

wPrepare and/or coordinate statistical reports pertaining to the University as required by various state and federal agencies, including IPEDS and Institutions of Higher Learning scheduled reports and special reports.

w Prepare regularly recurring statistical reports for institutional planning and information.

w Represent the University in various organizations concerned with the reporting of data and the exchange of data.

w Identify, plan, and conduct additional research projects in areas where manual data is gathered.

w Direct preparation of the MUW Fact Book.

w Handle inquiries from faculty and administration, as well as outside agencies.

w Direct follow-up reporting of transfer student progress to community colleges.

w Prepare annual enrollment projections.

w Review databases and reporting systems of other University departments, make recommendations for improvement, and assist in ensuring needed changes are made.

w Administer various surveys to the campus community and analyze the data collected.

w Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Assistant to the President for Planning and Institutional Effectiveness.
