IMPORTANT CHANGES IN REGISTRATION

Students who have registered for classes but who elect not to enroll, must drop all classes on their schedule by registration day.  Failure to drop all classes by this day will result in the student being responsible for payment of tuition and fees and for any grade received.  Students can cancel their schedules in Banner Web through the day before registration.  After that date, students should contact Student Services at 662-329-7129 for cancellation.

CREDIT LOAD

Twelve to 15 semester hours are considered full-time status.  A student may not enroll in more than 19 hours without special recommendation from the Dean of the College offering her/his major.  Students who are awarded certain scholarships must maintain continuous enrollment at MUW in a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester (audit hours and classes for which grades of WP or WF are given cannot be included in total number of hours to maintain scholarships).  If the student drops below the 15-hour requirement, the scholarship will be suspended.  Students who are awarded scholarships or have other financial assistance should contact the Financial Aid Center before reducing their credit load.

ONE-CREDIT COURSES

FINANCIAL AID

Welty Hall, Room 107 (662-329-7114)

MUW has a comprehensive program of Student Financial Aid in the form of scholarships, loans, grants, and work-study employment.  The total amount of money available in some programs is limited; therefore, students are encouraged to apply early.

Students applying for assistance must complete the 2004-2005 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).   Remember to include the MUW School Code (002422) on the FAFSA in order for us to receive your results.

The FAFSA can be obtained from any high school counselor’s office, the MUW Financial Aid Center, or on the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Students must complete the “Summer Semester 2005 Request for Financial Assistance” form which is available in the Financial Aid Center.  Summer semester awards are based on the student’s remaining eligibility for funds in the 2004-2005 award year (ends with summer).

Students receiving financial aid must enroll at least half-time (6 credit hours).  Full-time enrollment is 12 or more credit hours.  Federal Pell Grant and Federal Perkins Loan funds are adjusted according to the student’s enrollment status.

Students enrolling for the first time, who are 21 years of age or older, may be admitted to MUW without an ACT score.  These students are not eligible for federal student aid funds until either passing 12 credit hours with a “C” average, or meeting the regular admission standards, including the ACT score requirements.

SUSPENSION AND PROBATION OF STUDENTS

Students may be suspended or placed on probation for reasons of conduct as well as for academic deficiency.  All students are held responsible for the regulations as printed in the University Bulletin and Campus Guide.

HEALTH SERVICE

The University Health Center provides care for all students with routine, short-term health problems.  No fee is charged for a routine visit, however there is a nominal charge for lab work, medications, supplies and complete physical examinations.  Students are responsible for expenses incurred.

VEHICLE REGISTRATION

Vehicle registration is required and can be accessed on Banner Web.  Decals may be picked up at registration or from the Police Department in Eckford Building.  Decals are charged to the student's account, payable at the Comptroller's Office.  Campus traffic rules and regulations can be found on our web site

Residence halls are available for both male and female students enrolled at MUW.  Rooms are available on a nightly and weekend basis for part-time students.  Residence halls are open only during the fall and spring semesters and regular summer sessions.

WITHDRAWAL FROM MUW

Beginning January 2006, students who wish to withdraw from the University must do so through the appropriate College/Institute or the Advising Center for undeclared students.  Students must return their parking decal and student I.D. before the withdrawal can be processed.

The last day to withdraw from MUW for the Fall 2006 Semester is November 10.

Leaving the University without filing a formal withdrawal notice will result in a grade of F in all registered courses.  Withdrawing from a residence hall is not the same as withdrawing from the University.  Students who hold certain scholarships at the time they withdraw from the University will not be eligible to receive the scholarships in future semesters.  Students receiving financial aid are required to repay a portion of the financial aid they received, if they withdraw prior to completing 60% of the term.

REFUND POLICY

Adjustments to tuition and housing expenses are made for students who officially withdraw from the University during the first ten days of classes (Fall, Spring, and Full Summer Semesters) or during the first three days ( 5 Week Summer Sessions). Students will be refunded 100% less $100 or 5% of tuition, whichever is lower. Housing expenses will be pro-rated based on actual residency. Students withdrawing from student housing before the contract period ends will need to apply to break their housing contract with Community Living.   If the appeal is accepted, a $200 fee will be charged.  If an appeal is not accepted, the regular room rate is charged. Students who withdraw from student housing during the first 5 weeks of the Fall or Spring Semester will receive a pro-rated refund of their meal plan payment.

Note: First-time students who receive financial aid under the Title IV program are subject to the refund guidelines of that program. Please contact the Financial Aid Center or the Comptroller for specific guidelines.

TUITION CHARGES ARE NOT REDUCED IF CLASSES ARE DROPPED.
