Dr. Michael Burger was not available to attend the meeting. There are several questions that the Committee will be discussing with him over the phone and possibly have Dr. Tom Velek available at the next meeting to field any further questions.
The Committee considered a series of actions proposed by the faculty of Political Science. These changes are designed to create a more coherent scheme in which courses will be grouped by subfields. These changes will not make a significant difference within the program.
In addition, it was suggested that all courses discussed should have a prerequisite of either POL 101: Basic Concepts of Political Science or POL 201: American Government. While these courses are required of majors, it is important that at least one of these be completed before students enroll in upper level courses.
