The Undergraduate Curriculum Council met on January 16, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in the Welty Boardroom. Donna Burlingame led the meeting. The minutes of the December 5, 2008 meeting were approved by a unanimous vote.
University Administration Actions
Dr. Limbert approved the Council Actions from the December meeting concerning the following:
1. Modify an Existing Course – POL 460 Advanced Comparative Politics

Council Actions for January 16, 2009
College of Arts and Sciences
1. Inactivate an Existing Course – NU 427 Clinical Practicum for NU 426 Nursing Therapeutic Interventions: Dimensions of Community Nursing Practice, Nursing Care of Groups Aggregates, and Communities
2. Modify an Existing Course – NU 429 Clinical Practicum for NU 428 Nursing Therapeutic Interventions: Care of Individuals Experiencing Acute Health Alterations
Dr. Tammie McCoy presented this proposal with support from Dr. Sheila Adams. Inactivating NU 427 and increasing the hours of NU 429 from 2 credit hours to 4 credit hours will allow students additional exposure to acute care patients in the hospital setting. DeeDee Larson made the motion to accept the proposal as presented. Amanda Dahl seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.

New Business
Deadline for the publication of the catalog is March 1. We are looking to publish online in order to allow new core to be included if passed. Discussion ensued on possible changes which may occur as a result of a reduction of six credit hours in the core. Voting period for core changes is from February 1 to February 7 and 71 faculty members must vote in order to pass.

The next meeting will be February 20, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Welty Board Room. Proposals will be due by February 11.
