The goals and objectives are the SWI are:

• To bring students, faculty and the community together for mutual support and to provide a clearinghouse of good practical information for individuals who need such materials.
• To provide specialized educational activities, quality information, nonsexist materials, and services to the university and region.
• To promote research and outreach on women and leadership.
• To promote research on women in areas of health, art, and business.
• to become a repository for southern women's and MUW's history.
