Student Services Leadership Awards

History

The Division of Student Services sponsors the Student Services Leadership Awards to recognize MUW students who have excelled in the areas of citizenship, innovation, leadership, promotion of the MUW spirit, and distinguished service to others. These student leaders serve as a source of pride and inspiration to others by giving unselfishly of themselves in order to enhance campus life and to make MUW a better place for all of us.

 

Awards

Outstanding Overall Student Leader Award (any classification)

The Outstanding Overall Student Leader Award will honor an individual who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in promoting campus spirit, pride, introduced a new tradition or innovative idea to promote campus life, and/or the University's prestige, and exemplify loyalty to MUW—a true "MUW student".  Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.5 GPA.

Legacy Award Finalist (must be a senior)

The Legacy Award will recognize a graduating senior who excelled in leadership, service, and scholarship throughout their tenure at MUW.  Any senior who graduated in Fall 2007 or will graduate in May 2008 or Summer 2008 is eligible for this award.  Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.5 GPA.

Horizon Award Finalist (must be freshman or new transfer student)

The Horizon Award is designed to recognize the early accomplishments of first-year and transfer students to MUW. Any undergraduate, first-year or transfer student (no more than 2 completed semesters) is eligible for this award.  The period of eligibility includes involvement from Summer 2007 to present. The committee will recognize the student who have begun to develop their leadership skills and who have shown potential for great leadership at MUW.  Applicants must be in good academic standing with at least a 2.5 GPA.

             All award recipients and finalists will be recognized          at the program.

 

Application Eligibility Requirements:

  • Only MUW students are eligible for these leadership awards.
  • All student recipients must be in good academic standing with the university.  Specific GPA or equivalent requirements are listed for each award.
  • All student recipients must not be on disciplinary probation with the university at the time of application, selection, and recognition.
  • Applications and nominations may be submitted for multiple awards if a person meets criteria and eligibility requirements.

 

Nominations

Any faculty, staff, or student may submit nominations for awards.  The 2008 Student Services Leadership Awards process is now closed.
