Minority Day
2009
On behalf of the 2009 Minority
Day Planning Committee, we would like to cordially invite
you to attend our 7th Annual Minority Day, which will be
held on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm on the
campus of Mississippi University for Women. This year’s
theme is “Dancing Through the Past, Stepping
Into Your Future."
Check-in starts at 9:00 am in the Cochran Hall Ballroom.
This program is hosted by members of the IMAGE (Increasing
Minority Access to Graduate Education) at Mississippi
University for Women.
This program aspires to increase minority high school
juniors' and seniors' awareness in applying and
attending college. This year, high school seniors will
have an opportunity to interview for a Minority Day
Scholarship ranging from $250.00 to $500.00. There is
a section on the Minority Day application that the student will need to
complete if they are interested in interviewing for the
Minority Day Scholarship. In addition, students will
gain knowledge pertaining to academic offerings, scholarship
opportunities, and campus resources available at MUW.
We would thoroughly appreciate it if you
would RSVP for Minority Day by Friday, October 23, 2009.
Only 100 students will be considered and selected to attend
Minority Day. In order to
be considered for participation in Minority Day, students
must submit a complete registration packet.
Students
who register for Minority Day will be selected based on
ACT/SAT score, GPA, interest in attending MUW, and response
to the essay question. Students selected to attend
Minority Day will receive a confirmation via phone or email informing them of their
acceptance to participate in Minority Day on or before
October 28, 2009. There will be NO
ONSITE REGISTRATION.
