A Message from our Director

Greetings from Mr. Phillip "Flapp" Cockrell,

It is our hope that you will take this experience to become more well rounded individuals locally, regionally, and nationally.  We look forward to working with you as you become a part of the "long blue line." If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly at any time at 662.329.7350 or pcockrell@muw.edu.

Our Mission

The Office of Diversity Education and Programs provides a welcoming and supportive environment for minority students. This office serves as a link between culturally diverse students and the University community. The mission of Diversity Education and Programs is to provide support services for students, to assist in the achievement of life goals and increase academic, social, cultural, moral, and physical development.

In addition, the director is an advocate for the needs of the culturally diverse student population. Further, this office works with international students before and after their arrival on campus and provides site coordination for MUW's participation in the Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education (IMAGE).
