MUW Explorer
The MUW Explorer is a 36' x 10' pontoon boat custom built specifically as a “floating laboratory.” The covered deck boasts two highly durable picnic tables, a work bench, storage shelves, a deck portal for water sampling, a storage closet, and handicap ramp. The boat is propelled by two, 40 horse-power Mercury 4-stroke engines that drive the craft at speeds around 10 miles-per-hour when the boat has a full passenger load.
The boat launches from the Plymouth Bluff Center. It is accessible by trail after descending a steep staircase at the bluff and then a steep ramp over the water’s edge to the boat dock. The descent (and especially the ascent) is not for those who have decreased mobility. Participants should be aware of this factor before enrolling in a workshop that utilizes the boat.
For handicapped participants, arrangements will be made to board at one of two locations, which are more easily accessible.
