Dana Derrick was the outstanding Mathematics major
of 2008-2009. |

Dana was a Mathematics and Biology dual
major and a member of the Ina A Gordy Honors College. She
graduated summa cum laude. Dana was also the university's HEADWAE
(Higher Education Appreciation Day/Working Towards Academic
Excellence) student nominee this year. |

Dana did summer research on snakebite
fatalities at the Environmental Laboratory of the Engineer Research and
Development Center in Vicksburg, MS. |

Dana participated in MUW Study Abroad programs
in Argentina and Mexico. |

Dana was active in the Kappa Mu Epsilon
mathematics honorary society and in the Tri-Beta biology honorary
society. |

In summer 2008 Marla was awarded a Traveler's
Summer Research Fellowship to Weill Cornell Medical College in New York
City. |

Mississippi Academy of Sciences annual meeting in Olive Branch, MS,
26-27 Feb 2009. |

Marla was active in Alpha Epsilon Delta, the
premedical honorary society, and in Tri-Beta, the biological honorary
society. |
