Cost shouldn't be a barrier. At The W it won't be.

We believe that the cost of a college education should not be a deterrent to your pursuit of earning a college degree. The W has kept tuition among the lowest in the Southeast. We offer that same low tuition to residents of every state, and a range of scholarships, and grants to help you pay for your education.

The W does not charge an extra fee for out-of-state students. Every student pays the same low tuition, wherever they reside.

Cost of Attendance

Part Time

per credit hour

Students taking 1-11 credit hours as an undergraduate, or 1-8 hours as a graduate student, each semester are considered part time. Price include a mandatory capital improvement fee.
Full Time

per semester

Students taking 12-19 credit hours as an undergraduate, or 9-12 hours as a graduate student, each semester are considered full time. Price include a mandatory capital improvement fee.

Undergraduate students taking more than 19 semester hours must pay an additional $333 per credit hour. This price does not include books, supplies, or lab fees. Students attending at least one class on campus, will be assessed a $125 Commuter Meal Plan per semester. This data is for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee, nor a bill.

The W offers a flat-rate $10,000 tuition to complete either the full-time or part-time program. Based on 42 credit hours. Includes tuition, capital improvement fees, and course fees. Fees resulting from an overload will be the responsibility of the student.

Financial Aid Options

Your financial aid package will likely consist of a number different types of aid. Whether you want to study On Campus or Online, all students are eligible for the same financial aid.

The W offers a variety of scholarships for all sorts of scholars. There are awards for academic performance, academic interest, W legacy, financial need, and others. Scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admissions or individual academic departments.

Grants are funds provided for your education by the state or federal government. Unlike a loan, grants do not have to be repaid.

The W offers part-time employment opportunities to students to help pay for your expenses. Opportunities vary, with positions available in most campus offices. There are two types of work-study opportunities, the federal program and the institutional program. All student-workers are paid bi-weekly.

Loans are funds borrowed from your bank or other lending institution. Student Loans must be repaid, with interest. The W is committed to reducing the debt burden of its students. There are many options for helping fund your education, so we encourage you to research all your options. We also encourage families to borrow only when absolutely necessary, and then only to extent that is needed.

Your financial aid package will likely include a variety of options, scholarships are just one part. All scholarships listed are for undergraduate students only.

Most scholarships and awards are for a period of one academic year (nine months) which includes Fall/Spring. However, some at MUW can be renewed for additional academic years, or until graduation, whichever occurs first. All scholarship recipients must maintain continuous full-time enrollment and earn at least 24 hours per academic year at MUW and maintain a 2.5 or higher MUW cumulative grade point average. Students may receive more than one type of scholarship to attend MUW. However, total MUW award package, including state, federal, institutional, and private funds may not exceed total cost of attendance. Scholarship awards will be adjusted should the total amount exceed this cost.
