Lecture. Introduction to Army structure, customs, traditions, and history.
Training in rappelling and basic rifle marksmanship.
MS 122 LEADER DEVELOPMENT 2. (2) Spring
Semester. Lecture.
Introduction to communications, human relations and counseling with
examination of their application in leadership roles. NATO and relationship
to Army. Map reading.
MS 232 LEADER DEVELOPMENT 3. (2) Fall
Semester. Lecture-Laboratory (2-2).
Subjects include land navigation, leadership assessment training, military
writing skills as they apply to leaders. Map reading, command and staff
functions.
MS 242 LEADER DEVELOPMENT 4. (2) Spring
Semester. Lecture-Laboratory (2-2).
Continuation of MS 232. Duties and responsibilities of junior leaders.
Development of leadership skills through practical exercises in human relations
and interpersonal communications. Use of the military map.
MS 263 LEADERSHIP LABORATORY. (0)
Required of students enrolled in Army ROTC. Development of leadership
skills through practical exercises.
MS 353 ADVANCED MILITARY SKILLS I. (3) Fall
Semester. Lecture-Laboratory (3-2). Prerequisites:
MS 112, MS 122, MS 232, and MS 242, or instructor's permission.
Detailed instruction on individual leadership skills and small unit
tactics to include: hands-on training in a field environment. Laboratory
for leadership techniques and applications.
MS 363 ADVANCED MILITARY SKILLS II. (3) Spring
Semester. Lecture-Laboratory (3-2) Prerequisites:
MS 112, MS 122, MS 232, MS 242, MS 353, or instructor's permission.
Advanced instruction on application of leadership skills at squad and
platoon level. Discussion and hands-on training of squad and platoon-level
patrolling operations in both the classroom and field environment.
MS 400 SPECIAL PROBLEMS. Hours and credits to be arranged - maximum of three hours.
MS 473 SECOND YEAR ADVANCED COURSE, ARMY. (3)
Fall Semester. Lecture-Laboratory (3-2).
Development of written and oral military communications skills. Principles
of war; command and staff functions; introduction to military justice system.
MS 483 SECOND YEAR ADVANCED COURSE, ARMY. (3)
Spring Semester. Lecture-Laboratory (3-2).
Continuation of MS 473. Practical exercises emphasizing ethics and
professionalism. U.S. Army Personnel Management System; Training Management;
Army Logistics.
