UNIVERSITY CORE REQUIREMENT
In order for students to meet the two credit hour requirement
of the core curriculum of the University, a wide choice of activities is
offered in which concepts of health-related physical fitness are emphasized
and participation in lifetime sports is encouraged. Each student, as a
part of the two-semester requirement, must take one semester in a course
which has assessment, cognitive and skill components in health related
physical fitness. Courses which fulfill this requirement have a "C" in
the course symbol (HKC). Any student enrolled in the University may elect
to take three additional hours of credit in any activity course.
During the first year of enrollment at MUW, all students elect
classes of their interest to fulfill the two-semester core requirement
of the University. If a medical exemption is needed, the form may be obtained
from the Academic Affairs Office in Welty Hall and then be filed with the
Office of the Registrar. Each student will be classified as Regular,
Moderate, or Restricted in activity. Any modification of an activity
suited to the specific needs of the individual student will be made by
the Division of Health and Kinesiology upon recommendation of the physician.
