Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students at Mississippi University for Women are free to use Campus Recreation programs and facilities through payment of tuition. Students will use the official MUW Student ID for access to programs and facilities.

FACULTY/STAFF:

MUW ALUMNI:    
Individuals who have graduated from Mississippi University for Women are eligible to purchase a membership to Campus Recreation. Alumni members may purchase couple, additional adult, family, pool only, and pay to play memberships and sponsor daily quests to the facility. Alumni member and their sponsored members may participate in all Campus Recreation programs except Intramural Sports. A Campus Recreation key tag will be issued to members upon completion of application and verification of eligibility. This key tag must be used for admittance to facilities / programs. Alumni memberships may be purchased on a 6 month or annual basis.

MUW RETIREES/WIDOWERS:  
A former MUW employee with emeritus status or official designation as a retired employee or their widowed spouse is eligible to purchase a primary Campus Recreation membership.

Retiree members are eligible to purchase couple, additional adult, family, pool only, and pay to play memberships and sponsor daily quests. Retiree memberships may be purchased on a 6 month or annual basis. Retirees and their sponsored quests may participate in all Campus Recreation programs except Intramural Sports. A Campus Recreation key tag will be issued to members upon completion of application and verification of eligibility. This key tag must be used for admittance to facilities / programs.

Couple / Family    
All Primary members are eligible to purchase couple and family memberships. A couple membership consists of the primary member plus one person over the age of 16. Couple relationships can be verified by the following means: same last name, same address (proof through checking, utility bill or state ID), or financial co-dependency (joint checking or savings account, shared lease or mortgage.)

Family Membership permits the primary member, one adult and all accompanying children under the age of 22 having permanent residence with the primary member.

Adult Member:

Students, Faculty / Staff, Alumni, and retiree members are eligible to purchase additional adult memberships. An additional adult is defined as an additional family member, such as a parent or older child residing with the primary member and who does not fall into the "family" membership category. This is an annual membership only. Additional Adult members may be added to the rimary membership only after a Couple or Family membership has been purchased.
*Partner and Pool Only memberships are not eligible to purchase an Additional Adult membership.
     
 
 
Pay to Play: $60 / $20 Visit Pass
All primary members may sponsor an individual to purchase a "Pay to Play" membership. This membership provides the cardholder 20 visits to the Stark Recreation Center anytime the facility is open. The primary member can sponsor only one (1) "Pay to Play" member at a time. The primary user must be present when the "Pay to Play" membership is purchased. "Pay to Play" members do not have any sponsorship privileges.

COMMUNITY:
(Limited to 50 memberships)

Anyone who does not have an affiliation with the university through other membership categories may purchase a single membership to Campus Recreation. This is an annual membership good for one (1) year from the date of purchase. Community members may sponsor family, couple, "Pay to Play", and daily guests. Members may participate in all Campus Recreation programs except Intramural Sports. A campus Recreation key tag will be issued to the member upon completion of application and must be used for admittance to all facilities / programs.

This membership is open to Primary, Sponsored, and Community members. Adult and child memberships are available and are good one year from the date of purchase. This membership allows access strictly to the swimming pool area only.

Students not enrolled in one or both summer terms are eligible to purchase a summer continuing membership provided that they attended class the spring semester and are enrolled for the fall semester. Membership Policies

 

Membership Cards

  • A valid MUW ID or Campus Recreation Center key tag must be scanned at the Customer Service Desk for admittance. Any ID that is presented by someone other than the rightful owner will be confiscated.
  • MUW student and Faculty/Staff will use the Mississippi University for Women ID cards for entrance to the SRC. All other members will be issued Campus Recreation key tags. Key tags will be issued at the time of initial membership application.
  • Campus Recreation staff reserve the right to request identification at any time.

Renewal / Cancellation

Annual memberships expire one year from the date of purchase. Annual memberships purchased through payroll deduction will automatically continue unless the primary member notifies Campus Recreation by the 14th of the month prior to effective cancellation. Upon cancellation all outstanding fees must be paid in full. Fees may apply for early cancellation.

Suspension / Termination

 

Campus Recreation reserves the right to suspend or terminate memberships for violation of policies or posted rules, failure to pay dues, or any action which violates state, federal, or local laws. Additionally MUW students must abide by the rules of the university and consequences of these violations may include suspension or termination of Campus Recreation privileges.

Transferring / Refunding

Campus Recreation memberships are non-transferable and membership privileges are only to be used by the person to whom the membership was issued. Campus Recreation memberships are non-refundable. Memberships may not be "frozen" except in a case of documented sabbatical (MUW faculty only). Service fees may apply.

 

Membership Services

 

Locker Room Services

Locker rooms are provided for the convenience of all members and guests The locker rooms have direct access to the Natatorium. Each locker room also has an interior semi-private room.

Day-Use Lockers

  • Day Lockers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • All personal belongings and locks must be removed before leaving the facility each day.
  • Locks left on lockers after closing will be cut off and personal items removed. A $5.00 fee will be assessed to claim items. Items will be kept 30 days and then will be taken to teh MUW Police as abandoned property.
  • A $5.00 fee will be assessed to retrieve locker contents from the MUW Police.
  • Campus Recreation is not responsible for replacing removed locks.

Locker and Towel Rental

  • Semester and annual lockers are available to members for rental at the campus Recreation office.
  • Workout and shower towels are provided with a locker rental. Patrons may exchange used towels for a clean towel at the Customer Service Desk.
  • Lockers must be renewed or contents removed by the last day of a locker rental contract.

  • Campus Recreation is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items.
  • Children ages seven (7) and older may not enter the opposite gender's locker room.
  • For the privacy of our members and guests, the use of cell phones and cameras are prohibited in the locker rooms.
  • Glass containers are prohibited.

Equipment Rental

Campus Recreation offers day use equipment for checkout with a current MUW student ID or Campus Recreation membership card. Items include such things as, basket balls, volleyballs, Wallyballs, racquetball racquets, tennis racquets, weight belts, and game systems such as Wii and Xbox 360. Lost, missing, or damaged equipment may result in replacement charges.

Sale Items

Equipment needs and convenience items, such as racquetballs, yoga mats, swim goggles, combination locks, and bottled water are for sale at the Customer Service Desk. Snacks and other beverages are also available for purchasing in our vending area.

 

Policies

General Facilites Policies

 

Behavior and Participation

  • Rules of conduct must be observed at all times. Users are subject to discipline from Campus Recreation employees for interfering with employee duties, engaging in inappropriate behavior, using profanity or foul language, verbal abuse, and threatened or actual physical abuse of employees or other facility users.
  • Observe all posted signs and verbal directions provided by Campus Recreation employees.
  • Children ages 12 and younger must be directly supervised by a parent/guardian at all times.*
  • Members and guests ages 13-17 may participate without parental supervision if a completed parent/guardian consent waiver form is on file.*
  • Appropriateness of attire is at the discretion of the Campus Recreation employees. Specific requirements for attire will be posted in each area of the facility.
  • Campus Recreation employees and representatives are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items. Personal belongings are prohibited in activity areas and should be kept in a locker or cubby.
  • Food and drinks are restricted to the atrium/lounge and designated rooms for special events. Water and sports drinks are allowed in a re-sealable container in the activity areas.
  • Smoking and smoke-less tobacco are not permitted anywhere in the facility, including the outdoor patio.
  • Alcohol and drug use is strictly prohibited on the MUW campus and is therefore prohibited in any Campus Recreation facility or program. Attendees or participants identified as impaired will be removed from Campus Recreation facilities and program activities. Violators will be subject to University disciplinary procedures.
  • Glass containers are prohibited.
  • Photography and videotaping is not permitted unless written consent is obtained from the Executive Director, the Assistant Director of Facilities and Aquatics or the Chairman of the Department of Health and Kinesiology.
  • Pets, other than guide animals, are not permitted in the Stark Recreation Center.
  • Bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, and cleats are prohibited in the recreation facilities.
  • Baby strollers are prohibited in activity areas.
  • Please report broken or damaged equipment and/or equipment malfunctions to Campus Recreation staff immediately.
  • Please report any injury to the Strength and Conditioning Room staff immediately.

Patron Responsibility

  • Patrons are responsible for reading, understanding, and abiding by all polices and regulations of the Stark Recreation Center.
  • Patrons are expected to respond and cooperate with Campus Recreation employees and Health and Kinesiology faculty and staff.
  • Respect other Campus Recreation patrons.

Assumption of Risk

Physical activity involves a greater amount of risk than normal activities. You participate in Campus Recreation activities at your own risk. All participants are strongly encouraged to consult with their personal physician before participating in physical activity. Participation in Campus Recreation activities is voluntary. The Department of Campus Recreation and Mississippi University for Women does not provide insurance to cover participants. It is recommended that participants carry health insurance that provides comprehensive medical and emergency room coverage.

Entry Control

  • A current MUW or Campus Recreation ID is required upon entry.
  • To accommodate students and members who cannot present their MUW or Campus Recreation ID, three courtesy passes are allowed per semester. A photo ID is required for status verification.
  • Campus Recreation employees may request to see a MUW or Campus Recreation ID at any time, therefore members should carry their ID cards with them at all times.
  • Expired, unauthorized, or counterfeit ID cards will be confiscated and privileges may be revoked. A student who has his/her card confiscated for misuse may be referred to the Office of Student Life for additional discipline.
  • Unauthorized exit from an alarmed door may result in membership privileges being revoked.

Visitor/Intramural Spectator

  • All visitors must check-in at the Customer Service Desk to gain access into the facility.
  • Guided facility tours may be given depending on the availability of Campus Recreation employees.

Health & Kinesiology

  • The Health & Kinesiology office suite is located in the Pohl Building.
  • The Health & Kinesiology office hours are Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
  • Loitering around the Health & Kinesiology office suite after office hours is prohibited.
  • The Health & Kinesiology locker rooms are for Health and Kinesiology faculty only.
  • Health & Kinesiology classes have priority in scheduling from 8am-3pm.
  • Health & Kinesiology class students have priority for equipment while class is in session.
  • Signs will be posted when Health & Kinesiology classes are in session.
  • Health & Kinesiology instructors are responsible for the oversight of the students in their classes.
  • Health & Kinesiology instructors have discretion of the environment (e.g., volume of music, TVs, etc.) while class is in session.
