Her current area of research is feminism of contemporary Southern women. The focus of her dissertation was on gender issues in English Pre-Raphaelite art. His areas of interest include computer programming and open source software. Tollison conducts research in preparing distance learners for online courses and instructional technology. She has a particular interest in consulting and has served as a marketing consultant for a diversified set of local and regional businesses. In addition, she regularly conducts training seminars for small businesses on topics such as social media marketing, human resource management, customer service, target marketing, and general marketing for the small business. She is actively involved in the MUW Center for Creative Entrepreneurship and has been the recipient of the annual Entrepreneurial Educator of the Year award. She is committed to service learning and actively seeks to merge her consulting work with the classroom experience. Dr. Dorsey has worked directly with businesses on strategic management projects and often conducts corporate seminars on "The Benefits of Diversity in the Workplace", "Diversity & Sensitivity Issues", and "Effective Supervision." Her current research interests include the impact of emotional labor in the funeral service industry and on politicians. Dana Seymour O: 662-241-6088 H: 662-617-1366 dseymour@ccl.muw.edu Research Specialist Seymour gathers and analyzes data for grant-funded projects at the Center for Creative Learning and manages the CHAMPS Project (Creating High Achievement in Mathematics and Problem Solving), a 3-year, $1.5 million project that provides professional development to middle school teachers in mathematics. In her role as research specialist, she is developing and piloting a community engagement model and a best-practices toolkit for community engagement. Seymour has co-developed and lead a community coalition made up of non-profit and community-based organizations and has volunteered with and served on the board of many community organizations. Gifted Education Dr. Suzanne Meriweather Bean O: 662-241-7760 H: 662-327-6905 sbean@muw.edu Professor Emeritus of Education and Human Sciences Community Liaison, Center for Creative Learning and Educational Consultant Director of Center for Creative Learning Dr. Suzanne M. Bean is currently serving in a part-time capacity as Community Liaison for the Roger F. Wicker Center for Creative Learning. Her responsibilities as Community Liaison include external marketing for the Center, working with the Center Advisory Board, and leading the efforts to strengthen partnerships between schools and communities across the State of Mississippi. Dr. Bean is the author of the first congressional request which established the Center and she served as Director of the Center from its inception in 2004-2010. She is also a retired faculty member and Professor Emeritus of Education at Mississippi University for Women. Prior to her work with the Center, Dr. Bean was awarded three of the highest honors MUW offers, Outstanding Faculty Member (selected by MUW students), the Kossen Award of Excellence (selected by professional colleagues) and the MUW Medal of Excellence. Dr. Bean has co-authored 7 books and had numerous publications in professional journals. She has co-authored a textbook for teachers of gifted students, Methods and Materials for Teaching the Gifted. For the past three decades she has made numerous presentations at the state, regional, and national levels. She has served as President of the Mississippi Association of Gifted Children and Director of the Mississippi Governor's School. Dr. Kenneth V. Anthony
O: 662-241-7771 kanthony@edhs.muw.edu Assistant Professor of Education Dr. Anthony has conducted research into the motivations of home school families, their curriculum choices, and challenges faced by families who choose to home school. He has presented his research at national and regional conferences and published articles on motivations to home school and curriculum choices. He was recognized by Mississippi State University as the 2009 College of Education Graduate Student Research Award Recipient. Dr. Anthony taught leadership to US Army ROTC cadets from 2006- 2011 at Mississippi State University. His instruction focused on team building, small unit tactics and leadership in dangerous and high stress environments. He has practical experience as a leader in high stress environments. He was an assistant intelligence officer responsible for nine soldiers in Bosnia from September 2001 to March 2002. He was an infantry platoon leader responsible for training and leading a fifty soldier infantry platoon in combat operations in Iraq in 2005. He trained and led a 150 soldier Cavalry Troop in Iraq from June 2009- March 2010. Dr. Anthony has completed multiple Army leadership courses including the Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non Commissioned Officer Course, Warrant Officer Candidate School, Warrant Officer Basic Course for Military Intelligence, Infantry Officer Basic Course, Cavalry Leaders Course, and the Air Assault Course. He helped develop a course in counselor education at Mississippi State University that focused on counseling veterans and their families. His contribution to the course was a module explaining military culture and the impact that combat and deployments have on soldiers and their families. Professional Development Kate Brown O: 662-329-7676 H: 662-549-1661 kbrown@ccl.muw.edu Director Brown serves as the director of the Center for Creative Learning and has served as the project director and principle investigator for grants totaling more than $6 million. She has authored or co-authored grants totaling more than $25 million. She conducts teacher and administrator trainings on a number of topics across the state and is a frequent presenter at state and national conferences. Brown has developed models for professional development in several areas over the past 10 years and serves as a consultant with school districts seeking to improve their professional development programs.She has developed and presented more than 100 professional development sessions at schools and state and national conferences, including four presentations for the U.S. Department of Education. She has contributed several articles and a book chapter in the field of education. She is a past president of the Mississippi Association for Gifted Children and in 2008 was awarded MAGC's Award of Excellence for significant contributions toward the improvement and advancement of gifted education. She has served on numerous educational and non-profit boards and is a former director of the Mississippi Governor's School. In that role, she is developing a student engagement model for 21st Century Learning. She also coordinates trainings for educators and parents and is organizing an after school program for West Lowndes Elementary School as part of the 21st Century Skills program. She has served as project director and project manager for several grants awarded to the Center that focus on youth development, including a five year $1 million project that funded a highly successful after school program for at risk middle school students. She serves on the board of the Lowndes Young Leaders program, a partnership with the Columbus Lowndes Development Link that provides focused leadership experiences and educations for high school students in Lowndes County. In addition, his academic qualifications and work experiences have been enriched with international experience. Dr Roy had his undergraduate education from Bangladesh, PhD from Canada, and a post-doctoral fellowship in the USA; teaching experiences from Bangladesh, Australia and USA; pharmaceutical work experience in both bulk drugs and formulations from Bangladesh. He was the project director and principal scientist of Bangladesh first antibiotic raw material manufacturing unit, Gonoshasthaya Antibiotics Ltd and later on he joined Square Pharmaceutical Ltd. as head of R & D and technical services. He worked with many international consultants and visited many pharmaceutical companies in India, China, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. Dr Roy has over four dozens publications, and has co-edited a special issue of journal, current medicinal chemistry. He is also an author of a textbook recently published, titled, "An Introduction to Pharmaceutical Sciences: Production, Chemistry, Techniques & Technology."

Music and Technology History of Popular Music Dr. Richard Montalto O: 662-329-7203 H: 662-329-3606 rmontalto@as.muw.edu Professor of Music Dr. Montalto holds degrees in composition from the University of New Orleans, Tulane University and the University of North Texas. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) grant to young composers award for his "Symphony for Wind Ensemble," yearly ASCAP awards since 1982 and a Mississippi Artist Fellowship for his "Symphony #2." His works have been performed at Carnegie Hall, the Montreaux International Jazz Festival, Symphony Space in New York, the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center, the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States, the International Computer Music Conference and throughout the United States and Europe. He has served as president of the Southeastern Composers' League and president of the College Music Society Southern Chapter. Montalto has performed on bass across the United States, in South America and in Europe with a number of ensembles, including Harry Connick and the New Orleans Pops. His research focuses on the politics and policy of race, collaborative governance and public management, network theory and leadership and privatization. She has published short fiction, the book "The Feminist Poetry Movement," and two books for adolescents on Islam.
