New social networking site for MUW students

When Night FallsCOLUMBUS, Miss. -- Students at Mississippi University for Women will have the opportunity to get connected to Owl’s Nest, a new networking site for MUW students. Those interested can sign up for the service in the cafeteria.

Leander Williams Jr., president of SGA and developer of Owl’s Nest, said, “Owl’s Nest will provide students the opportunity to meet, interact and communicate with each other, allowing them to stay connected with what’s happening on campus. Students can even find job opportunities through Owl’s Nest.”

Strictly for MUW students, Owl’s Nest has many features similar to Facebook and Twitter. All users must register before using the site, but once a member, they can do a variety of activities from creating a personal profile and uploading pictures to buying and selling textbooks. Students will also be able to upload documents, whether it is personal information or class assignments, and they can even post organizational events to the calendar that all members will be able to access.

The Student Government Association has partnered with Student Life Networking for three years to manage this site for the university. Student Life Networking develops products and provides services that empower student organizations to engage their students and improve communications.

“The name of the private social site stems from the pride that students exude for the love of this institution. MUW is home to about 2,700 students and from this reality the concept for Owl’s Nest was born,” Williams said.
