`A Christmas Pudding’ presented at MUW
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- The Department of Music and Theatre at Mississippi University for Women will present “A Christmas Pudding” by David Birney on Friday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Cromwell Theatre.
The performance is a Christmas celebration told through songs, stories, poems and tales by writers such as Mark Twain, Shakespeare, Shaw, Longfellow, St. Luke and others.
William “Peppy” Biddy, MUW professor and chair of the Department of Music and Theatre, said, the piece provides a perfect evening to warm hearts, stir memories and give laughter during the holiday season.
“The event vaguely resembles a program of Lessons and Carols,” he added. “However, instead of the scripture readings that appear in a traditional Lessons and Carols service, there will be readings from some of the world's most famous authors that relate to Christmas and the holiday season interspersed with a beautiful selection of Christmas carols.”
“A Christmas Pudding” will feature actors from MUW theatre and the MUW Singers, Chamber Choir and Chorale.
The event is free, but requires a ticket for admission. Seating is limited. Advanced tickets may be picked up (limit two per person) at the Office of Communication between 9 a.m. and noon, Monday through Friday.
