Dr. Kempker Humanities Teacher Award recipient
Mississippi University for Women is celebrating Dr. Erin Kempker, assistant professor in the Department of History, Political Science, and Geography, as its Humanities Teacher Award recipient for the academic school year.
Each year the Mississippi Humanities Council grants Humanities Teacher Awards to one faculty member from each state institution, including four-year universities and community colleges. Kempker was chosen through nominations and votes by other humanities faculty members at MUW.
Kempker came to MUW three years ago after obtaining her doctorate in American History from Purdue University in Indiana. She researches conservative and feminist women’s politics in the postwar era, specifically focusing on grassroots activists in the Midwest.
She will make a public presentation on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m. in Painter Hall, Room 113. Her presentation is titled "One-Worldism and 'Big Sister' Government: The Conspiracy behind International Women's Year." The event is free and open to the public.
Kempker will attend the Mississippi Humanities Council Awards Banquet in Jackson, which will be Friday, Feb. 24, 2012.
October is Arts and Humanities Month as proclaimed annually by the president and governor.
