MUW Commuter Student Social set for Oct. 3

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- On Monday, Oct. 3, the Commuter Student Council, Student Government Association and the Office of Student Life at Mississippi University for Women will host their first Commuter Student Social. The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Claudia A. Limbert Assembly Room in Cochran Hall.

The purpose of this social is to inform commuter students about the resources available to them and allow them to share their ideas and suggestions about programs and services that will benefit all commuter students. Light refreshments will be served.

Dr. Phillip Cockrell, director of student life said, “MUW is a close knit community with a wide variety of opportunities. I would like for the commuter students to know more information about the services and programs provided here on campus and for them to become actively involved on campus.”

The student population at MUW is approximately 2,600 students, where commuters make up more than 70 percent.

“It is important for commuter students to get involved and learn about the different services and programs available. This can help enrich their experience at MUW,” Cockrell added.

Commuter students interested in attending must RSVP with Amanda Williams at aawilliams@sa.muw.edu or (662) 241-6974.
