Dr. Ward appointed to Fulbright Specialist Program Review Committee

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Dr. James D. Ward, professor of political science at Mississippi University for Women, has been appointed to the Fulbright Specialist Program Review Committee.

The Fulbright Specialist Program promotes linkages between U.S. academics and professionals and their counterparts at host institutions oversees. The program is designed to award grants to qualified U.S. faculty and professionals, in select disciplines, to engage in short-term collaborative two to six week projects at host institutions in more than 100 countries worldwide.

U.S. faculty and professionals apply to join a Roster of Specialists for a five-year term. Roster candidates are reviewed by peers in the same discipline and by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Project activities focus on strengthening and supporting the development of host institutions abroad.

In addition to Ward’s appointment to the Fulbright Specialist Review Committee, he is serving as guest editor for a special issue of the Journal of Public Management and Social Policy. The theme of the issue is local government reform and organizational change. Ward is in the process of receiving and reviewing manuscripts and corresponding with referees.

Ward, who also serves as coordinator of the public administration certificate program at MUW, joined the university in 2005.
