Zumba party fundraiser at MUW to benefit Red Cross
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Individuals participating in a fundraiser on the campus of Mississippi University for Women will be encouraged to dance the night away.
On Monday, Sept. 26, a two-hour Zumba party fundraiser will benefit the Lowndes County Chapter of the American Red Cross, starting at 5 p.m. in the Pohl Gym.
Marion McEwen, MUW Campus Recreation wellness coordinator, said, “The Red Cross was chosen because the organization is raising money for the recent tornado victims.”
“It is important for people to participate in this event to help raise money for the victims. The funds will help with rebuilding.”
Seven instructors will be teaching the two-hour class featuring Zumba, Booty Beat and social dancing, and the workout will consist of new choreography and old favorites. The featured deejay will be Rudy Ward.
“Zumba is a fun, great workout, and anyone can do it,” she said.
Children ages 12-17 are welcomed with direct adult supervision. Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door and may be purchased at MUW Stark Recreation, Columbus-Lowndes Red Cross, or any participating Zumba instructors. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross organization.
