MUW connects with alumni through regional events
COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Mississippi University for Women Office of Alumni Relations and Interim President Allegra Brigham will begin a month of travel this June. With stops in three major cities on the agenda, the University plans to connect with alumni on a national scale.
“MUW has wonderful alumni across the nation, and I’m excited to spread the news about all the great things happening at MUW right now,” said Brigham. “Now more than ever, we need to unite all alumni and work toward a brighter future for our university.”
Scheduled events include:
- New York - On Saturday, June 11, MUW participated in the Mississippi Picnic in Central Park in New York. Following the picnic, on Sunday, June 12, a brunch was held at the Artisanal Bistro on 32nd Street at Park Avenue.
- Washington, D.C. – On Saturday, June 18, MUW participated in this year's Mississippi on the Mall celebration in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, a private reception and tour of the Freedom Forum's Newseum was held for alumni and family and friends.
- Atlanta, Ga. – On Friday, June 24, a group dinner at Mary Mac’s Tea Room in Atlanta will be held. On Saturday, June 25, MUW will participate in this year’s Mississippi Picnic in Chastain Park.
“Not only are these events great fun, they also are fantastic opportunities to promote the University and engage alumni with each other and bring them news from campus,” said Mary Margaret Roberts, executive director for Alumni Relations.
Informational tables will be featured at each of the picnic events with University and alumni information. All alumni are encouraged to attend the events.

The MUW Alumni Association serves the University and its alumni by providing opportunities for alumni engagement with each other and in our efforts to advance MUW.
