MUW offers Culinary Camp for Kids
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Easy and tasty recipes as well as food safety will be served up at the Culinary Camp for Kids offered by Mississippi University for Women’s Culinary Arts Institute.
Four summer workshops will be held, beginning Monday, May 30.
Campers’ busy week will begin with instruction in food safety, proper sanitation and kitchen safety. Each day of camp, participants will be busy at work as they use practical techniques to produce the recipes of the day that can be easily replicated at home.
As the week progresses, they will gain skills in correct use of appliances, healthy meal planning and etiquette.
“Due to great demand, the first three sessions are already full,” said Chef Erich Ogle, Culinary Arts Institute director.
Spaces are still available for the June 20-24 workshop, which is open to seventh through 12th graders. The session will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Classes are $250 per session and will be held at the Culinary Arts Institute in Shattuck Hall on campus.
