MUW Scholars’ Day set for March 4

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women will host more than 50 high school students for spring 2011 Scholars’ Day on Friday, March 4.

MUW’s Scholars’ Day offers graduating high school students the opportunity to visit the campus and compete for campus scholarships. These awards include the prestigious Centennial and Honors scholarships as well as University and Reneau scholarships.

Participants coming to campus will get the opportunity to tour campus, visit academic and organizational displays as well as interview for scholarships. A session with professional student services staff will be available to parents who have questions.

Students representing high schools throughout Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee will attend the event. International students who are unable to attend will be interviewed by phone.

This year, with combined attendance from first Scholars’ Day in December, there should be over 100 students awarded fall 2011 scholarships.

“If there is any indication from our first Scholars’ Day we had in the fall, I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the best and brightest. We have students attending with really high ACT scores and grade point averages competing.  I’m excited about the quality as well as the quantity of students who will be attending,” according to Cassie Derden, director of admissions.

The Scholars’ Day schedule is available on the MUW website. For additional information, contact the Office of Admissions at (662) 329-7106 or email admissions@muw.edu
