MUW senior designs poster for 2011 Market Street Festival
COLUMBUS, Miss. – A poster design created by Mississippi University for Women senior Ernest Rogers of Crawford will be used for the 16th annual Market Street Festival scheduled for Saturday, May 7.
Rogers received a $300 first place prize and his artwork will be featured on all promotional items for the festival. This is the third year that Columbus Main Street has worked with MUW's advanced graphic design students to develop a poster for the Market Street Festival.
“Partnering with the MUW art department for our artwork and marketing needs for Market Street Festival has helped to bring the look of Market Street Festival to the next level,” said Amber Brislin, Main Street Columbus director. “The art competition provides a great opportunity for students and the festival alike, it’s a win-win opportunity.”
The 2006 graduate of East Oktibbeha said he was honored to be chosen as the winner.
"Being from Crawford, I’ve always attended the festival so this year will be an added bonus for me and my family to see my work everywhere surrounding the festival.”
Runners up were Amanda Brewer and Derek Slaughter. First, second and third place winners received VIP packages to the festival.
