Toastmasters Club chartered on MUW campus
COLUMBUS, Miss.—Mississippi University for Women sophomore Terence Nicholson, a native of West Point, has founded “Stand up-Speak up Toastmasters Club” on campus.

The club is open to students, faculty, staff and community members, and meetings are held bi-weekly at 5 p.m. in Cochran Hall room 303.

“I wanted to start a Toastmasters club because being a student I know that public speaking is very important and a skill that is very essential to have,” said Nicholson. “I wanted to bring this club to campus to empower and help individuals improve their public speaking skills and become better leaders.”

Nicholson is a legal studies major and has aspirations of attending law school. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Class Council and the Bench and Gavel Club. Nicholson presides over the Toastmasters Club this year.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations.

Headquartered in California, the organization has more than 260,000 members in over 12,500 clubs in 113 countries. Since 1924, Toastmasters International has helped people of all backgrounds become more confident in front of an audience.
