MUW Science Enrichment Program presents Backyard
Astronomy workshops
COLUMBUS, Miss. -- The Science Enrichment Program at
Mississippi University for Women will present
Backyard Astronomy workshops on Nov. 12, Jan. 14 and
March 25.
David Teske of Rainwater Observatory will lead the
sessions, which will be held at the Plymouth Bluff
Center located on Old West Point Road in Columbus.
Teske will provide an overview of stargazing,
constellation and moon observation concepts.
Participants are encouraged to bring telescopes,
binoculars and chairs to view the stars from the
parking lot.
The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
“If the weather does not cooperate, we’ll still have
the program,” said Kenny Langley, project
coordinator. “Instead of outdoor viewing, we’ll do
some great hands-on activities that are fun whether
you’re 7 or 77. Cookies and hot chocolate will be
served.”
Registration is not required, and all sessions are
free and open to the public.
