Music Therapy Play Day at MUW Oct. 23
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women’s music therapy program will sponsor its annual Music Therapy Play Day on Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to noon in Stark Recreation Center.
“This is a community service event for the music therapy club, Mu Theta Chi, to give them more experience in providing music services to populations,” said Carmen Osburn, director of music therapy at MUW. “The purpose is to bring attention to our program as well.”
Participants will be involved in drumming, instrument making, movement and music and other activities.
Osburn added, “These interventions are designed to increase their creativity, help connect them with leisure interests, increase their social interaction with peers and family members, to improve mood and cognitive functioning, and generally to have a fun time. “
The event is free for both adults and children with special needs. At least one parent/guardian/caregiver must accompany each participant.
For more information, contact Osburn at (662) 241-7897 or email email@example.com to make a reservation.
