MUW Campus Recreation’s Wellness Weigh Down Challenge benefits campus

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Less than two months are left for the 250 participants of Mississippi University for Women’s Campus Recreation Wellness Weigh Down Challenge to log in their 40 days of workouts before it ends on Nov. 29.

Campus Recreation partnered with the Department of Health and Kinesiology in August to kick off the Wellness Weigh Down Challenge.

“The purpose of the Weigh Down is to encourage the MUW community to utilize Campus Recreation facilities and programs to create a healthy lifestyle through exercise and diet,” said Marion McEwen, wellness coordinator for Campus Recreation.

Some of the benefits of the Weigh Down include a change of lifestyle, losing weight, gaining muscle, feeling better and having fun at Stark Recreation Center, McEwen added.

There are also other reasons to participate in the Weigh Down including $100 gift cards to be given to participants who lose the most weight. Categories include a male and female student and a male and female Campus Recreation member. Smaller gift cards will be given throughout the challenge to individuals who record a certain number of workouts. Drawings will be held each month.
