MUW Dean’s Lunch Lecture Series to feature area CEOs 

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women students will have a chance to engage with area chief executive officers as part of Mississippi University for Women’s School of Professional Studies Dean’s Lunch Lecture Series. 

Roger Burlingame, CEO for Ceco Building Systems, will be the opening guest lecturer for the Tuesday, Sept. 28 program. 

MUW alumna Liz Looser, founder of The Cirlot Agency and her team, will be featured on Tuesday, Oct. 19. The agency specializes in brand strategy, public relations and market research. 

Both programs will be held at 11 a.m. in the Claudia A. Limbert Assembly Room of Cochran Hall. 

“The Dean’s Lunch Lecture Series was developed last year to have a forum for our students to meet, greet and hear CEOs speak about their companies, their jobs and their view of the world,” said Dr. William “Bill” Mayfield, dean of the School of Professional Studies. “In my past, I have had the opportunity to meet CEOs such as Sir Richard Branson, Ely Callaway and a number of others.” 

Mayfield said listening to their stories changed his life. 

“I realized that these people got to where they are by luck, hard work and practice. They had a vision and made a plan. I also learned that when they developed their plans, they were not particularly talented in really any subject but rather followed their passions and enjoyed doing and learning about what they enjoyed.”
