MUW Alumni Association to host Alumni Evening Out in Birmingham 

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Mississippi University for Women’s Alumni Association will host an Alumni Evening Out in Birmingham, Ala., on Thursday, Sept. 30.  

The evening will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Monkey Basket, which is owned by alumna Judy Russell Ellington, who graduated in 1979. The Monkey Basket is located on 4075 Helena Road in Old Town Helena, and where guests will be offered samples of gourmet foods and visit and experience the charm of local shops.  

La Reunion Coffee Cafe will host live music by Alexa Rankin and Thomas Trussell. A university update will be provided by MUW Interim President Allegra Brigham at 5:30 p.m.   

Southern Events & Rental will have a performance by Friends in Jazz and wine tasting from Vizzini Farms Winery. Tastings include an additional $5 charge to be put toward a purchase.  

Wildflower Wax will host candle making sessions at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. for $20. Prior registration is required. For more information, call (205) 249-8280.
