MUW Campus Recreation to host Zumba party fundraiser for Humane Society
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Individuals participating in a fundraiser on the campus of Mississippi University for Women will be encouraged to move their paws—make that feet on Monday, Sept. 27.
A two-hour Zumba party fundraiser will benefit the Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society, starting at 5 p.m. in the Pohl Gym.
Marion McEwen, MUW Campus Recreation wellness coordinator, said, the Humane Society was chosen because the organization is raising money for a new building.
“It is important for people to participate in this event to support the Humane Society and to build community spirit by working with other businesses in Columbus.” Other local sponsors include The Fitness Factor and Kudoz.
Five instructors will be teaching the two-hour class, and the workout will consist of new choreography and old favorites.
“Zumba is a fun, great workout, and anyone can do it,” she said. Children ages 12-17 are welcome with direct adult supervision.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door and may be purchased at The Fitness Factor or the Humane Society. All proceeds will go to the Columbus-Lowndes Humane Society.
