Kappa Pi art students make room for local high school art work

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Members of Mississippi University for Women’s Rho chapter of Kappa Pi International Art Fraternity recently held the Kappa Pi 2010 High School Art Exhibition.

This exhibition was the final phase of the chapter’s Drawing Out Success program in which the fraternity partnered with local high schools in order to encourage art in the community.

Students from Columbus and New Hope high schools entered their artwork to be judged. All winners received certificates, and Best in Show received a $25 cash prize from the Rho chapter of Kappa Pi.

The winners:

Best in Show: Shelley Clair Dornan from Columbus High School for “Serendipity #1 and #2”
First Place: Anto Omar from New Hope High School for “In My Mind”
Second Place: Zach Thomas from Columbus High School for an untitled drawing
Third Place: Sarah Eads from New Hope High School for “Of All the Colors…”
Honorable Mention: Rachel Stanback from Columbus High School for “Home”
Honorable Mention: Robert Gavin from Columbus High School for an untitled painting

The exhibition will be on display in the Eugenia Summer Art Gallery on the MUW campus until the end of July.
