MUW offers Culinary Camp for Kids

COLUMBUS, Miss. -- Mississippi University for Women’s Culinary Arts Institute will be offering Culinary Camp for Kids, four summer workshops beginning Monday, May 31.

The busy week will begin with instruction in food safety, proper sanitation and kitchen safety. Each day of camp, children will be busy at work as they use practical techniques to produce the recipes of the day that can be easily replicated at home. As the week progresses, they will gain skills in correct use of appliances, healthy meal planning and etiquette.

Workshops are open to different student grade levels. Dates and times:

• May 31 – June 4, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., second and third graders
• June 7 – 11, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., fourth – sixth graders
• June 14 – 18, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., fourth – sixth graders
• June 21 – 25, 12:30 – 5 p.m., seventh – 12th graders

Classes are $250 per session and will be held at the Culinary Arts Institute in Shattuck Hall on MUW’s campus.
