MUW professor’s poetry receives nomination
COLUMBUS, Miss. – Dr. Kendall Dunkelberg, professor of English at Mississippi University for Women, has received a nomination for the Mississippi Institute for Arts and Letters (MIAL) prize in the category of poetry.
Dunkelberg’s book of poems, “Time Capsules,” was published by Texas Review Press in July 2009. The poems in this volume explore themes of love, marriage and fatherhood from his childhood in Iowa to his life in Columbus, where he has lived for the past 15 years.
Dunkelberg also directs the Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium and teaches creative writing and literature.
The annual awards gala for MIAL will be held June 5 at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson. Richard Howorth, owner of Square Books in Oxford, will be the master of ceremonies. Winners in each category will receive a cash prize and a Mississippi-made gift.
